CBNL appoint Jonathan McKay as Chairman

- CBNL has today announced the appointment of Jonathan McKay as Chairman. Mr McKay brings over 30 years of international experience to CBNL and marks the continued growth of the company across backhaul and enterprise access markets.

Mr McKay, who is also currently Chairman of Just Giving, Forward Partners and La Fosse Associates, brings a wealth of experience in world-class technology businesses.

Mr McKay’s former roles include Chairman of Ubiquisys, Chairman of Fizzback and Vice President and General Manager of Sun Microsystems' Tools and Integration business unit.

He joined Sun as a result of the company's $700 million acquisition of Forte, where he held the role of Chief Operating Officer and Chief Marketing Officer from the corporate headquarters in San Francisco.

Mr McKay commented on his appointment, stating:

“I join CBNL at an exciting time as the company continues its growth and completes the launch of the latest generation in its wireless technology.

“The demand for mobile data and carrier-grade business connectivity has created a huge strain on networks and the challenge of how to cost effectivity deliver this is being felt across the world.

"CBNL’s latest VectaStar solution provides the perfect balance of high-capacity, carrier-grade services and cost savings which offers operators an attractive business case and competitive advantage.

“The significant growth CBNL has recently achieved in winning 25 new customers and expanding into ten new countries, including the US, proves the technology is perfectly in tune with operator requirements.”

CBNL launched the latest generation of its market leading licensed PMP platform at Mobile World Congress in March.

The new platform offers up to 14.4Gb/s per hub site, up to 20km range and total cost of ownership savings of up to 50 percent compared to fibre and traditional point-to-point technology.

CBNL serve more than 70 communication providers across 42 counties, including seven of the world’s largest top ten operators. CBNL customers include MTN, Telefonica, Airtel and Vodacom.
